There is therapy, social activities, community services and plenty of others to choose from.If you have always been good at organizing things and keeping everything and everyone in order, chances are that by the time you hit 20, someone will have said to you, “Why don’t you go into event planning? You’ll be so good at it.”Interestingly, event planning and managing is indeed a very popular career choice, so much so that too many people go into it now. If you are organizer-freak who doesn’t want to walk the same path, here are some alternative career paths for you.

Project Manager

This comes in a variety of packages. Many big companies have their own managers but plenty of non-governmental organizations hire project managers per project and the more experience you have, the more hireable you will be. It is you duty to plan how long the project should or could stretch and then work with accountants and other financial people who can help you plan the budget. Then you have to make sure that everyone involved in the project does their work on time because otherwise you will be behind schedule. One such project that is very hip with large companies is reliable village management where you will be in charge of building and stocking a living community designed to provide remote support for workers in harsh conditions.

Site Manager

A site manager is all about being present. This is great if you can handle a lot of moving parts at the same time. For instance, if you were involved in senior living operations management then you would have to keep a count of occupancy, manage all the nurses, helpers etc. manage the temper tantrums and troubles of all the elderly occupants and also make sure that the buildings and infrastructure are secure. While the job may be different from place to place and site to site, at its core, it is all about managing assets and liabilities.

1st Assistant Director

Despite the title, the 1st AD is anything but an assistant to the director; he/she has the most difficult job on the set of a movie or TV shoot, which is to manage everyone’s schedules. Think about how many actors and actresses – both principles and secondary – plus extras and crew there are. Now remember that each scene is shot multiple times from different angles and the whole shoot has to be crammed into a pre-arranged deadline. It is the 1st AD’s job to make sure that none of the schedules clash, decide which scenes are shot first, leave room and time for re-shoots, accidents, make up, rest breaks, food and every other conceivable job. Juggling all these is a massive endeavour and the thus Ads job is perfect for an organizing-freak.
